Has anyone seen this and if so do you agree or disagree with her advice? She is one of DD's all-time favorite players and we all know she can hit the ball!

It seems there are so many different philosophies out there on hitting and I don't know which is which.

Below is the video link and from around 5:10 to 8:35 is the meat of what she is saying. Please share your thoughts?

I think this whole "try to impart backspin" as a swing goal is crap. But I think the idea of attacking from above is gold. I just think the cue gets misunderstood. Attack from above and time it right then the bathead whips down just before it whips up. You want to catch the ball right as it is whipping up and get a positive attack angle. Small distinction but an important one.

Look at the 36 second mark here. This is her hitting a ball low in the zone but it illustrates what I am saying.

It makes sense. Not only will it help you adjust to the faster speed of D1 softball, it will help you delay just a little longer to be able to recognize the change up or other off speed pitches. Like she said, if you catch the ball dead square with both swings, the exit velocity may be higher with the longer swing, but she's going to catch it good enough to carry the fence much more often....

Here is her real-life barrel path.

The still frame that I posted came from a Jack Manken analysis. That swing looks more like traditionally high level, not swing down. Barrel was definitely rising into the ball. So I don't know to make of it. On the one above where she's swinging more down to the ball, it appears to be an off speed pitch, and she's more upright near contact, which might encourage a more downward swing. I don't know.
