I've learned a ton about pitching here and I've been very focused on that. I still am! But we went to a hitting lesson today, first one, and I thought, wow, I have no earthly idea if this is right or wrong, what a good swing is, etc. Clueless! On the pitching side it's all, go read these stickies. Are there key stickies for hitting too?

My DD has a kind of balanced swing naturally. Her weight is fairly evenly distributed, and she moves her weight forward onto her front foot when she swings through. The coach who we worked with today teaches weight on the back foot with a very wide stance, bat further forward than she's used to with the bottom of the bat kind of pointing at home plate, fast hands, and ending the swing with the front leg straight, back leg bent. Just watching her, it seemed like she was getting more power with this method. But it also feels very weird for her, and I figure I should do some independent research before we retrain her. She said she did like it though, that it felt weird but not bad. He seemed to know his stuff to me. She's concerned her dad will be like, no no no, that's all wrong, and make her do something different again. lol

What say you, knowledgeable hitting peeps?

Rule #1 - Always compare to the people doing it best.

Here's one example...

If you are looking for DFP guidance for your DD, the most effective way to start is to post a video of her swing.

There's a video of her swing on here somewhere, I'll try to find it and link it. What I'm more curious about is what he's teaching, and your gif helps with that. That looks pretty much like what he was teaching her to do.

Based on your description, I have some possible concerns regarding your description of her weight shift and bat position, but I don't want to jump into anything further on those topics until we can see things in action.

Here's the link to my older thread with her swing. We've worked on some of what's in it, off and on. We're kind of pitching obsessed so hitting has been more back burner but tourneys are starting back up soon, our coach is likely to play 9, and it'd be great to get her into the top half of the line up so she doesn't have to sit whole games. So, here I am :)
