Thanks RDB.....I get majority of what you're saying. When you say push....are you referring to her hands pushing? Is that what that means?

Thanks Spartans. She does seem to have better lower body movement with the no stride. We'll work on separation after this next tournament

Agree with RDB. I've been using this gif lately. Having girls get fully coiled in the back hip. Get fully tight from the hands up high tight to back shoulder, shoulder tight to lat and scap, scap tight toward spine. Then do the command drill. We are doing it with the launch thought of "show the first base dugout the numbers on the back of your shirt." This came from experimenting because I first thought this would create shoulder rotation. With the loaded scip, the swings are typically in sequence. Look how you can read CRUZ on his jersey and you would not be able to on your dd. I few things I have said to girls in the last few weeks: (right hand hitter orientation) "keep a tight V in the right arm, keep a L in the left arm, line left hand level or at top of right shoulder, then try to keep your hands behind your right hip when you swing."
Another:
"Hip pulls the shoulder. Shoulder delivers the hands. Hands deliver the barrel."

So Cal
...try to keep your hands behind your right hip when you swing.

One thing to watch out for with some hitters is that they will push their hands rearward (towards the catcher) in their interpretation of getting them "behind the right hip", creating a long loop in their hand path.

(This isn't directed at RHC. Just a side note from my experiences with 10U and 12U players.)

Yep, the arms/hands don't load the hands, the body loads the hands.

Try this: from "ready" position grab the top of your shirt sleeve with the thumb and pincher finger of the top hand on the bat (hope this makes sense). Move your hands back off your shoulder to the same good ready position (this will stretch your shirt outs slightly). Then move to a nice strong load position. If you are moving your hands to load them you'll lose grip of your shirt. That's "pushing your hands rearward" as Eric F describes. If you can load you hands up and back and still keep your hands close to your shoulder (ie, don't lose the pincher grip on your shirt) then you are loading them properly.

Yes. You have to have the previous step of "keep a tight V in right arm and an L in left arm". With those 2 arm positions, the hands should not move seperate from the torso.

First day hitting to get ready for the upcoming season. She wasn't too rusty. But she seemed to let her front shoulder fly open early. I'm not an expert by any stretch which is why I come here. Any que to fix that?
