I am currently a hitting coach for my DD's 8u softball team. We will be moving up to kids pitch next fall and now I need to teach the girls how to bunt. I don't want to teach the "wrong" techniques.

I never really had the skill broken down in a way that I liked learning so I need some drills and advice.

Obviously all just my opinions, there is a few ways to do all the below.

I do not like either feet moving, just toes turning towards to P.
Start the bat at the top of their strike zone, the bat will not be perfectly horizontal. The bat should never go up, only down. If it is above the bat leave it go.
Back hand should move up to where the bat starts getting wider.
Catch the ball with the top hand.

Am I the only person who sees the irony in someone who's screen name is "HITTING COACH" asking for advice on hitting for 8 year olds.....

1. Point toes at first base in a sprinters stance.(right handed player)
2. Keep the barrel at the top of the zone and always work down to the ball, NEVER UP
3. Keep an upward barrel tilt (barrel higher than the top hand)
4. Keep the barrel out in front of you, and never close to the body (this allows the eyes to stay behind the bat and easier to line it up with the pitch)
5. Dont lunge at the ball, simply catch the ball softly with the bat.
**Side note.... if you want a ball to die quickly, focus on "catching" it with the endcap or handle area of the bat. Sweet spot "catches" will put it right into the defence lap.

Back on the dirt...
That's a pretty good video. My question would be does everyone like the batter moving up in the box? I know it gives more fair territory to work with but a good defense will see it and you lose the element of surprise.
