Ok quick question here....my 12 year old is in need of a new bat...out grew her old one and is using one on loan.
She is using a 31/21 just a run of the mill cheap bat....actually hits very well but I have noticed some bat lag. She tells me it is not to heavy but I am not 100% sure....any suggestions on bats? And size/weight?
Thanks in advance.

12u is a tough age to gauge a correct bat size without giving us any details as to her height, weight, build, batting style (power or short game)... fill in the blanks for better responses.

What do you mean by "bat lag"?

Keep in mind that swing issues are more often related to mechanics than bat weight.

sorry was a quick post b4 we headed out the door this afternoon ....bat lag as in alittle slow thru the zone but talking with her coach tonight we think its more of a her pulling her head then anything.....also she is not a big girl 4'10 at best and alittle over 80lbs.....very quick footed and will be laying down bunts alot I am sure....but she can also hit very well...not a homerun queen but can hold her own.

I would not go lighter. 31, 21 would be a good place to start with her, unless she is considered tall. Spend what you can and get her a nice bat.

Some bats are more end loaded than others, which can lead to bat lag. Find the balance point of the bat and compare it to other 31/21 bats. I would also recommend weighting the bat to see if it is really 21oz. See if she can take some swings with teammates bats to see how she likes them. Go to a sporting goods store that has a batting cage and allows you to demo different bats. When my DD was 12 I knew she had a lot of growing to do, so I always tried to move her up an inch whenever I bought a new bat. If it was too heavy for her I would put on a 1" choke up on the handle until she grew into it.

My 10yo DD is the same height and weight as your DD. She is currently swinging a CF6 31/20 with good success.
