Just from my experience...I am not or never was a hall of famer at either...I played bball through juco, then again in a 30+ league for 4 years and now rejoining my old team in a 40+ league this spring (rest of the team is several years older then me, so as I turn 40 this spring, I can get back into it.) FP...I played 7 years of men's fp, 2 on the highest level travel team (yes have matched notes with him and am sure I have faced Bill), and 5 years on a team that just traveled the midwest.
Just a ramble of my thoughts: Reaction time...I do believe there is less time in fp, (though could be that I played against the best pitchers and bball just against average Joes). That being said, no one I played with was ever highly concerned with speed...now speed WITH movement, that was hard! Rise balls....hard! I could foul back forever. A good drop ball that you weren't ready for stunk too. It was hard to square up on a ball, I hit the top or bottom of the ball a lot. When I got off the travel team (because I needed to eat) and started playing local fp, the long became a lot more common as it seemed pitchers had power with out so much movement. When you square up to that, the ball is gone.

Baseball...growing up playing I never went through a transition like just jumping into fp....speed, if your ready for it, it is not the biggest problem. Pitchers that changed speeds, that was my biggest problem. Having practiced hitting the curve a lot that has never been a huge issue, and playing with old men, there aren't many guys that have much more. Long ball, it's easy to hit long, but the problem is you have to hit really freakin long, just a little short, and your out. Ground ball with a big infield, your out. Gaps are bigger, but 90 feet is a long way to run. This will be the first year that I play in a wood bat only league. I have hit with the guys a few times this fall. Wood bats suck! It is a huge freekin difference. I don't think I will be parking a ball with a wood bat...ever!

My thought of both, they are both hard, but for different reasons.

Ever swing a BBCOR bat? Get out a wet newspaper. Although they are getting better. Also, wood. Need I say more?
MLB players don't have to go to classes or have another job to do to make a living. They get to spend all their time practicing and working on their swing. Softball players don't make the kind of money MLB players.

Yes I do think you need to say more. Are you comparing MLB
Players to college fastpitch? And like I said if there are not "hot" bbcor bats then why do people pay hundreds of dollars for a bat if its no better then the cheapest. Even wood bats are better then they on e were

true but there is a reason they have to practice all the time and a reason they make a lot of money. College baseball players have to go to class and they don't make any money.

I was but we can compare college to college. Makes no difference. Yes there are better BBCOR's then others but the best BBCOR is not hot at all. Players will pay a lot for a little advantage or what they perceive as an advantage.

The college part, I have no arguments, but as far as MLB players part are you saying that pro fast pitch players. don't work just as hard as the MLB players? The women don't have everybody babying them like the precious MLB players. MLB players don't even have to carry their own equipment. They might get a blister, so tell me again how much better your MLB players are. By the way this is a fast pitch forum, so take your baseball is superior attitude back to the baseball sites. Theses girls have to work harder, because they have to overcome this whole male attitude, still to this day.

How about another point to consider? The ball. Speaking of slowpitch, You can have the hottest bat, 2000 thousand hits, or rolled or shaved or sleeved. Take your walmart special. Take a clincher ball, or the new .52/275 ball that the assocations are now using, throw same speed, U will hit about the same speed and distance. Now take your mult-layered ball say at .44/400 say manufactured by Evil. That hot bat with so-so mechanics made u look like Barry Bonds compared to your avg player.

Fast pitch, I dont know if different parts of the country adpot a uniform rule of ball specs. I think my dd plays her tournys with the worth dream-seam, .47/375. Ct, ny, nj, pa,ri. What are the specs of a major league baseball?

Happy New Year to All.
