Here is a look at my DD's current swing entering her senior year. Many here have seen her swing posted (and many have helped us tremendously!) since she was a sophomore. There is still much to do but here is a bigger, stronger more confident kid that is hitting it pretty well these days. Thanks for all the input and always appreciate feedback.

Looks like a player, LH. It is cool that (presumably) Dad is still soft tossing his Sr, and also keeping it fun using a home run derby distance.

One critique: When I watch her front leg/foot, it appears that she hasn't chosen a timing mechanism, or rather that she is using two different styles within the same swing. You will see her stride a few inches, then put on the brakes, and then a reload where she initiates a Pujols-style no-stride swing (heel high/sole to the pitcher). If the context of the video is 'changeup hitting' and the load-stop-reload is purposeful, then this looks great. Otherwise, there is a 'catch' in the mechanics. I suspect she/someone calls the catch a timing mechanism, but IMO there is no time for 2 mechanisms unless she strides really early. But striding really early is just wastefull if one must stop and reload. Good news is that a minor adjustment would get her nice and fluid and eliminate the wasteful movement.

Not bashing...looks really good overall with great weight transfer. There is a whole lot to like here!

Example of a failure to release ....

The spacing between the back elbow and rib cage is too much at this point imo....which tells me that the wrists are not oily enough (meaning she is not really turning the barrel with her hands but merely dragging it)....another way to explain it to her is tell her that her back arm bicep muscle should be turning towards the ball sooner...this can free up the wrists since this should create a tighter hand path...and with a tighter hand path comes more of an awareness of the weight of the barrel and what the hands/wrists need to do....

Not to argue just,
Looks like she allready does what this video talks about.

SL

Yes ... that was my point. She is using her front leg in a manner that extracts significant ground reaction forces.

Rdbass created a post, that seems to have been deleted/removed, that brought that portion of the swing into question.

It wasn't me.

Not here.
Straightleg,
I removed my post untill I could get home to see the full video. FFS was responding to my post that was removed.
Not bashing the hitter, but here is what I see. I am commenting on FFS gif on post #5. I like to look at the bottom (waist/hips) of a hitter first, before I comment on the top half (above waist/hips). What I seen in the gif is the hitter when she coils her rear foot and leg turns back towards the catcher postion. This puts her rear leg, before she starts her swing further back then it should. Then when the hitter strides and swings. I agree she locks out her front leg,but to me it looks like when her hips rotate they can't rotate as far as they could/should because of their beginning start postion. I would like to see more rear hip drive with a bent rear leg. When I also looked at the video there was times I could see her hips not as rotated as the should have been, so in order to help them rotate further the back foot spins outward where the batter is up on her toes and the heel is pointed in the direction of 1st base.. I also see the hitter starighten the back leg, maybe to get a last minute push into her hit. Now this was after the bat hit the ball so maybe that doesn't matter. I would like to see a stable back/rear foot. Also after the front leg locks out I think if the hitter sat down alittle on the backleg instead of standing tall while hitting the ball. This is JMHO. This is what I think I've learned on this site and others. If I had the choice of who to listen to of course it would be straightleg,FFS and MTS ect... Just posted to clear up the confusion I may have caused.
