Fiveframe, that is such an interesting perspective. Thanks for the video.

She now has a 31/20 and truth be told she should have a 30/20 but like I said in another post.........I caved and honestly the way this kid grows it probably will be perfect soon. haha.

SHe has hit much much better lately with her new bat and of course, we have been working at it, which probably has just as much if not more to do with her improvement lately. Were working on getting rid of bat drag right now. We'll probably post some more video in this post to see what you all think.

I really was one the fence about spending that much money, my DD did not make the All Star team but I have been helping a little bit since some of the girls I coached made the team. I was assigned to the soft toss station yesterday and one girl was hitting a Catalyst and the other a CF5 you can hear and see the difference of the ball coming off the bat (we were actually hitting to outfielders so you could gauge distance), I am a believer now a guess I'm forking over the money soon but defiantly looking at closeout bats or something were they might sell you last years model at a good discount.

I have found brand new 2011 Xeno bats on Ebay for $150.

Ditto and For the younger players the Catalyst is the same bat design in a Drop 12.
I see many 2012 models for 120-140 and they are good bats as well.

What is a drop 12 or a drop 10 bat? I first heard the terms today and then saw a mention of it above. Things have changed so much since I stopped playing 9 years ago (coincidently when my DD was born).

bat drop is simply the length of the bat in inches, minus the weight of the bat in oz. So a 32 inch 22 ounce bat is a drop 10.

Thanks for the explanation. What would be the best option for a 9-yar old? She is 53 inches and weighs about 60 pounds. I guess the better questions would be how you would determine which bat is the best fit. Right now she is using a light bat but I think she is swinging with her arms too much and doesn't generate much power. She does karate and they work the core pretty hard. Her abs are solid so she should be able to generate some power. I know the bat won't solve that problem.
