Major Site Upgrade

Hi Everyone:

We just proceeded to a MAJOR site upgrade.

We moved to the just released (Dec 21st) VBulletin 4.0 Gold Version. This is a MAJOR step up compared to the previous platform.

It took over 10 hours to install it and reconfigure the hundreds of settings that come with this state-of-the-art message board / forum considered the most advanced in the world.

This new platform comes with some additional features for users but is also a whole new system "under the hood" or "behind the scenes".

We spent hours reconfiguring previous settings and there is still work to be done.

It is not a beta version but a fully supported new version. We just need to configure it right and it is quite technical

==> Do expect bugs and glitches while we tweak the settings and get familiar with this new version.

I expect it will probably take 7-10 days until it runs smoothly and without problem.

==> Please do report any bugs / glitches you may experience and we will work on them.

We still have to re-install several plugins. The video plugin will NOT be available for a while as it is not compatible with this new version yet.

We appreciate your patience and thanks for bearing with us for the duration of the transition. I am sure you will appreciate the upgrade.

Marc,

I'm unable to set my avatar and my title since the upgrade. When I click to 'edit avatar' only the option button to not use an avatar is displayed. Resetting the fields makes no difference. Regarding my title; I can't find a way to change the default of "senior member" to something else. A couple of months ago I had changed it to "Abby's Dad".

Hi Gerry,

You should be able to set your own avatar now. I changed your custom title too. Let me know if that does not work. I had to reconfigure permission settings for all users to allow them to customize their avatars and titles. That was one of the settings we forgot to reconfigured. It should be done now. Let us know if you still experience problem.

In a nutshell, everybody can add a custom profile pic / avatar and choose their "title".

Hi Marc,

Did something happen to the "Private Messages" function? All the saved messages in my Inbox have vanished. The "Sent" box never recorded out-going messages in the previous version of the platform, it still records nothing in the current version.

I don't know for sure, but I think the upgrade wiped out all the old PMs. Mine were gone too. I'm surprised the sent messages weren't recording. Mine always did, even before I became an admin. I just checked and I can still see my sent mail. I will see if there's anything with your user profile that's preventing it.

Thank you site admins for adding the minimize button to the message bar at the bottom of the page. That bar has frustrated me before while trying to add pictures to posts and the ability to minimize it will make it easy.
