"Back of glove". Keep the glove closed and catch with the back of it. Girl is forced to use her throwing hand to trap the ball and transfer is automatic. Same as pancake but no extra equipment needed

Caution: if a girl is not used to it, it's easy to stick the throwing hand in the way and get it smashed. Make sure she lets the ball hit the leather first and then traps it. Even if she's never done it before, she'll pick it up within 3 or 4 reps and its off to the races!

If you want to speed up the transfer, this would be my #1 suggestion!

We are 12U TB, and the girls turn DPs every game or two. My favorite DP is the bases-loaded 6-2-3. That said, when F2 throws the ball over F3's head, and 2 or 3 runs score, it can be a heart-breaker. That's happened more often that I would like to admit.

The best fix for this lies with the 1b, and not the C, actually. The 1B need to make sure that she's squared up to the C, and giving a target well inside of the base path.

Correct setup or not, F2 (my DD, in this case) has to throw the ball in a place F3 has a chance to make a catch. Over F3's head and past F9 is not it. LOL.

It gets better. My 14U does it much less frequently than she did a couple of years ago in 12U :)

Right Here For Now
To the OP: if you study film or slo-mo video of the SS on a SB DP, you will see the necessary footwork involved. That is the first priority. The second is making sure that the transfer happens in the middle of the body, under her nose, however you want to describe it and not have the glove back at the ear as many coaches try to instruct. The transfer happens in the middle of the core with the front elbow pointing towards the intended target as well as the instep of the back plant foot on the throw. Once this pattern is established, it will inter-mesh with Wasserman's High Level Throwing Pattern and the front elbow will no longer need to be held high as your DD's brain will automatically go into scapula load even if the front elbow is down.
