DD has got run over more then I count, she has a good first step but slows down.

She is worried about being destroyed.,.

I wish she would play like she could but she gets scared someone is going to run her over.

As a catcher just teach her the proper technique and then have her employ it. She should be in front of the plate without the ball, so as long as there is not a play she should not be getting hit, once she has the ball she should close the door on anyone coming home, she has the gear on and as long as she has the proper footwork she will be OK most injuries are from ankles or knees getting twisted because of improper foot position, the collision usually only hurts for little while and as long as the runner are sliding which they should be.

If she is in the infield she just need to know that her only job is charge the ball get the ball, she just has to focus.

Just somewhere in the IF.

Is she getting run over while attempting to make a play on the ball? While standing on the bag? While making the cut-off?

Seems odd that someone would be run over that often while making a play on the ball. Sounds like she's just unlucky?

Hi quincy,

Little tike I take it?

If I could add a couple things...

Make sure she is "coached-up" on proper positioning and technique relative to the various circumstances that catchers face. In your case, especially runner advancing from 3rd.

Fear & timidity requires slowing plays down to gain an understanding of skills & building confidence in an atmosphere of security. As your daughter's softball IQ & subsequent confidence improves, so should her level of mental & physical play. You can slowly increase the play speed & add obstacles (such as baserunners) at a rate comfortable to your daughter, until she conquers her fears.

Be patient, you'll get there!

Little tike she was a lot better, 14 now.

She is always worried about other fielders. We needed to go to the emergency room because of another fielder.

Her current Team has done nothing to cause her an Issue but she still is worried,.
