Which is the better way to gain momentum for an outfield throw? Is it better to Crow Hop (high jump into plant position and then throw) or a Replant (weight back leg, reweight it by hopping onto it again or twice on the same foot)?

I prefer the crow hop as long as the momentum is shifting as the ball is being caught. Dont stop and restart befor and after the catch

Both of those examples use too much time. The best crow hop is the quick foot replacement type or slight cross over. That bicycle kick type is overcooked, usually I see players who do this as being in the air a lot longer than they need to be, the player in the other clip uses too many extra long steps to get the throw off with the replant.

when in doubt...look to MLB

In softball there's not enough time for a crow hop so I don't teach it. One step replant or just throw off the back leg if you have a strong arm.
