My daughter played catcher her 10U season and her old 11" Wilson A440 didn't get much use. She used 11" balls in her 10U league.

I want to get her a fielding glove: one that is usable in both infield and outfield. The 12U leagues she is moving into uses 12" balls so we need a glove with a bigger pocket than the 11" glove. The 12" A440 seems decent, but at $15 dollars I could afford to upgrade to something nicer. Also, is a 12" glove big enough for 12" balls? I buy gloves online because the selection at the local stores is limited.

Thanks!

Yes, a 12” glove is fine for both infield and outfield.

I do not know anything about the A440 but if she liked the old Wilson why not stick with their brand for now. At $15 you do not have much to lose.

DD uses a Wilson 12.25. She likes it quite a bit. She had a 12.5 before that but likes this one, will replace it with the same. She is an infielder (3B) but has used it in the outfield without a problem. I have a 12 Easton which I like but I may move up to the Wilson she has.

A 12" glove is fine for 12" balls. In most cases, I wouldn't recommend anything larger than a 12.5" for a multi-position glove. My 9yo DD (playing 10U) and 15yo DD (playing HS) are both using 12" Mizuno MVP-series fielder's gloves. Be aware the actual size of a 12" glove may vary a bit from brand to brand. My 15yo's previous 12" Easton is noticeably smaller than her new Miz.

I agree with Eric and my 13 year old DD uses the same 12" Mizuno MVP glove. Actual glove sizes do vary between manufacturer's and models and the web/pocket design can make a big difference. The Mizuno seemed small when we got it but once the seams were stretched and the pocket was broken in properly it's plenty big and works well. 12" great for pitching/infield and might go to 12.5 for outfield.

At 14U and above I would recommend 12-12.5 for an infielder and 12.5-13 for an outfielder, with a 12.5 being a good size for both.

My 8yo DD uses a 12.5 Mizuno to great effect, she recently tried on the same size Louisville slugger and it really would barely fit on her hand, the size difference was amazing. (she has huge hands in their defense)

I didn't measure, but I would guess the LS was 3 inches shorter than the Mizuno. I ordered it from Amazon, and returned it for another Mizuno, but I now know I can't count on ordering one by size and the last minute and count on it fitting right by size. (she will be playing left handed temporarily while she is prohibited from throwing with her right)

Don't go on size alone obviously, it varies a lot.
