Can someone post a video of the water bottle drills and your use in practice. What points you stress etc. I just made one and I am working throught the common sense Hanson Principle etc of it all now.

You don't want to take the wind out of "L" drill coach's sails by telling them the "L" drill is wrong. They'll think you're loony.

This is one drill I don’t get, I tried the drill and tried to feel what the water bottle adds to the drill and personally I could not feel a difference between the bottle and using a softball.

It's just a visual reference for the player...DD would go straight to the "L" which is impossible to do in this drill if you are keeping the water at the bottom of the bottle...

It might be because you are already throwing correctly?

I got the feeling of stretch in the obliques that I don't get with a standard L-drill. I agree you can get the same feel with a softball but as iMlearning states the visual reference helps players who don't already have that feel. I think it helps them throw the ball rather than push the ball if that makes sense.

Good stuff guys. Thanks for the input. Do you guys actually have them throw or just go through the motions to get the feel?
I have her start out slow and then speed up after she gets some reps in. She ends up going full speed but still holds onto the bottle at the end. Then we move to a real ball, start slow and "remember the bottle" and then speed up from there doing real throws. If she doesn't do it correct with the ball, I ask her to think about the water in the bottle..."would it be where you want it to be?"
