Need some recommendations for a first base mitt. Daughter is 5'11" playing 14u and moving to the jv team in the spring. Right now she has just been using her regular glove.

Pulled the trigger and went with the Vinci CBW413. Now begins the task of breaking it in.

It has been a friggin "vacuum" and I have not had to do any maintenance to it so far. Can't say enough about this glove.

My first baseman has dropped at least a dozen balls this season due to her tiny 12" middle infielders glove. I knew her family's finances were tight and couldn't afford a new 1B mitt. So I sprung for a "team" mitt. Nothing super fancy. Its an Easton SVS3 (black with mesh) about $90 on Amazon or Ebay?. Now none of them want to use it because its the stiffest mitt I've ever seen. I've beat it, baked it, steamed it, conditioned it, soaked it in hot water then beat it some more. Its obviously better than it was but its still like a brick and my 1B still wants to sneak and use here glove... suggestions???

Coach James, I had a Reebok 1B mitt that was just the same. It was the worst mitt I've ever tried to make work. I finally gave up and started using it to warm up pitchers. After about half a season of getting pounded pitch after pitch, it finally developed a decent pocket and was more usable. Unfortunately it never seen game use. I finally pawned it off on another sucker in a garage sale.
