Is her bat broken?

I bought a Demarini Vendetta C6 (2013) in February for my DD and I still think her hits off her Worth Storm are harder and further. I don't see any damage or hear any rattles. It's gotten enough use wear break-in shouldn't be an issue...

Just thought she would get a little more pop.

The Vendetta doesn't have the pop of it's CF-series cousins. If you're using the softer (RIF) balls often found in younger age groups, the more rigid barrel of most alloy bats tends to perform pretty well.

It is an 11' regular softball..10u. Definitely expected more pop but maybe that is just the way it is and we need to upgrade to the higher end bats to see the difference.

I bought my DD a CF5. That bat has tons of pop out of the wrapper compared to what she was swinging. My DD had 2 stand up doubles this weekend and it was her first time using the bat. Normally most of her hits are contested at 1. Even her grounders that are normally fielded and thrown to 1 weren't. Lots of mishandled balls this weekend. I wish I would have bought a higher end bat earlier. It made a huge difference. I also read that a heavier bat hits further. My DD went from drop 13 to drop 11. 31/20 now from 30/17.

With all respect to Amy, I don't completely agree with a -10 bat as an across-the-board recommendation.

A heavier bat will hit a ball farther than a lighter bat WITH THE SAME SWING SPEED. However, if the heavier bat is creating a slower swing speed, distance and reaction time both suffer.

CF-series bats have consistently shown some pretty significant pop, and a -11 CF is hard to beat for a lot of young players.

Eric, did Amy advocate for a heavier bat or suggest a -10? Perhaps she was advocating a move from 30/17 to 30/20 (-10) instead of 31/20(-11). IMO, most people are in too big of a hurry to add inches. I tend to agree with Amy and would add that if a player isn't already swinging -10, there is no way I would be looking to add length.

Amy has offered the opinion that young players should not be swinging anything lighter than -10 many, many times. This is an opinion I don't agree with as a blanket answer for all players. For many players, learning how to handle a -10 is the right choice. For others, it's too much, and performance and confidence suffer.
