Thanks everyone for the response. In terms of the clearance shoes, I would not mind purchasing them. Unfortunately these are not the ones suggested. I agree that a lot of my hesitation comes from common sense and paying over $40 for cleats for an 8 yr old. May just have to break down a get a pair before season is over if everyone else purchases them.

Bought a pair of Boombahs for The Kid. Very thin, composite-type leather. Wears through, rips, nicks, and dries easily.

Made in China. . . 'nuff said, really. All their stuff is.

Looks cool, but not built to last.

DD wore Boombah cleats all through HS with no problems. The plan was to go to Ringor when her feet stopped growing. After trying the Boombah's she didn't want to change.

DD's college team purchased these cleats for all the players. A number of the players ended up with shin splints the trainer blamed the shoes, some of the players also experienced problem getting flat footed. The school since has not purchased the Boombah shoes..

Boombah turfs are pretty durable. My DD has had the same pair for the past season and they are still going strong. As for cleats, they're comfortable but a little heavy and once they get wet they are pretty much trashed. Just ordered my DD Ringor cleats as they should last until next fall.

And probably beyond.

She's had the ringors before and they are durable. They just make a good product. Have to take care of the feet. Good feet good product.

DD hasn't worn anything else in the last 5 years even since she transitioned from pitcher to catcher. I think we bought 2 pairs since the originals. The originals with the pitching toe which she wore for 2 seasons, then when moving up to 14U, the metals without the pitching toe and we just bought her a new pair this past August because the metal cleats were nubs after 3 years.
