To me, it is the Model FPC205 2005 Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst. It is generally $50-$65.00 and I buy them used and give them to my students. I have used mine, since it was new.

From Wikipedia......The performance of composite baseball bats typically improves with age. The reason for this is the breaking-in process; in other words, the force of striking the ball over and over eventually breaks down the bat's composite fibers and resinous glues that different manufacturers use. This improves the bat's Bat Performance Factor (BPF) or Ball Exit Speed Ratio (BESR). These factors are directly related to the rate of speed at which a struck ball comes off the bat; with higher speeds representing a greater danger to players in the infield (closer to the batter). Bats used in Little League play are required to remain below a league-specified values to be allowed in league play when new and after Accelerated Break-In (ABI).

The Easton Titanium Typhoon, made in 1990, was tested by ASA and had a record exit speed of 111mph.

The also came with the following warning:

WARNING! Tests indicate that balls hit with a titanium bat, such as as this one, come off the bat harder and quicker than bats made of wood or aluminum. Defensive players may have less time to react. Before using this bat, you should alert all players, participants, coaches, umpires, and spectators that the ball may come off this bat harder and quicker than when using bats made of different materials. Failure to alert could result in injury. Use only with skilled players and where approved for play.

Never heard of the 1990 typhoon. Of course in 1990 i was a junior in High School. Back then, the only thing I knew about softball was the beer league all the Dads played in!!!lol

Seen this used in slowpitch in my young days, with a .50 core softball that were red hot also. DANGEROUS!
3rd baseman playing edge of grass etc...thank god no one hit back at the pitcher from what I could remember...

Townhound, I was just getting out of school too (1990), but around my area that was old enough to play beer league! lol
