What's the best out there for a pitcher/middle infielder? I've been looking at 12" because DD seems to like a little size to the glove. She has a Mizuno now that is falling apart. I noticed it had a tear in the palm last night and asked why she didn't tell me. She said "Because I love my glove". Love it or not, it's time for a new one.

So Cal
What's your budget? What level is she playing (rec, travel, etc.)?

Keep in mind that size will vary somewhat from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some 12" gloves are larger than other 12-1/2" gloves.

EDIT: Generally speaking, 12" is on the smaller side for softball (12U and up), which some prefer for mid-IF.

She plays 12A travel. Budget wise I am open to about anything. I wouldn't be against going bigger than 12 but thought that might work for both positions.

Back on the dirt...
On the sizing, i just bought a vinci fortus 12" that is a tad smaller than her previous Mizuno 11.75". Its a pretty small glove. Its the first Vinci we have owned so I cant say if its true for all of them.

In 12U, for pitcher & middle infield I would lean toward a 12" glove. My DD plays those positions and a 12" glove has worked great for her. I agree with Eric about different manufacturers glove sizes being different if you were to put a measuring tape to them. If she's playing (A) ball you need the bite the bullet and get her a stiff/sturdy glove. One to protect herself while in the circle, and also a glove that holds its shape playing infield. In (A) ball she's much more likely to have shots hit back up the middle and screaming line drives at SS. How big is she, what size is her hand?

In my experience Vinci's play a little smaller than advertised and Mizuno's a little larger so what you're saying makes perfect sense. How loose and worn is the Mizuno? That can be the big difference.

She just turned 12 and is 5'4". I don't have exact hand size but I'd say average size for her age. I planned on getting a nice glove this time around. I've been looking at the A2000 P12 but wanted to get input from the group.

Sorry MM, I love A2000's..........for me! Sorry, not at all familiar with that A2000 model. I would just about 100% recommend a Vinci to you and your DD in you guys situation, and I still do. Vinci make great gloves but check out this 12" Mizuno GGE11 Global Elite on Amazon right now for $169. Great glove at a big discount, they're showing 2 in stock. I would normally send a link but my iPad won't let me?? This is not your normal $79.95 Mizuno MVP fastpitch glove at DSG, this is a really nice, really well made glove!

Thanks for the recommendation ANNASDAD. Looks like there's only 1 right handed one in stock now. It looks like the Fortus is cheaper and a lot of people here swear by them.

The Fortus is not going to hold up to a 12A travel ball schedule - its only a steerhide palm with a cowhide leather backing. Great for lower levels, great for casual play. Not so much for a heavy travel ball schedule. If you were looking Vinci - I would recommend a BV1929-L. VERY popular on this board. Dual Hinged Web pocket, that measures about 12.25" (even if it says 12.5, its not :) ) PM me for a price if you are interested.
