She has had Mizuno and Nokona. Loved the Mizuno first two times, liked the Nokona but got floppy - has team Mizuno - has no padding - feels smaller than expected. Thinking she should just go back to Mizuno but has not tried other brands like Vinci.

Also, I think she has life left in Nokona - is it possible to take in to get relaced/reconditioned/refurbished and not be "floppy"??

She put Nokona on her Christmas wish list so I am stumped because I thought she wanted to go back to Mizuno - might be because she doesn't like the current one.

Trying not to break bank because it is her senior year and well wow...money disappears faster than we can earn it!

Thankfully I can rely on Todd (coresoftball) for the bat. LOL.

Will her school provide a glove? No reason to buy one if they are going to make everyone on the team use a particular brand. If your DD is allowed to use whatever she wants, you cannot go wrong with a Vinci BV1929-L. It is kip leather and is lighter than most Nokonas. I would think with one relacing it would last all 4 years of your DDs college career. Just plan to break it in for 3-4 weeks before she uses it in a game that matters.

I'll second the BV1929-L for a great pitchers glove. you might have to tighten the laces, but with proper care it should last 4 years easily. And I might know a guy that can cut you a pretty good deal ;) (send me a pm for a dealer price if you are interested)

It does take a while to break in, but the quality of the glove is unmatched - and well worth it.

Sorry to hijack the thread but Dave do you have a Vinci recomendation for DD. She is a 5'10" 135# lefty who needs a good firstbase mitt. She is currently on her second cheap easton firstbase mitt that she loves. It is worn out now. She tried a Nokona SBM 100 but the pocket was too shallow. I bought her a mid level easton that I really like but she hates. She uses an A2k in the outfield and really likes the glove. i have to admit I have raised a glove snob. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Re lacing will stiffen it up some. Not a ton though.
De has a new A2000 super skin. She really likes it.

How old is your DD's Nokona glove? Most, if not all, will come with a full one year warranty. Nokona has excellent customer service. I'd give them a call and see what your options are. They can be reached at (800) 433-0957. redhotcoach mentioned an A2000 Super Skin. If you're worried about a glove going floppy on you, definitely consider going with an A2000.

We just past the 2 year mark. Just wondering if it would be worth it to do complete overhaul or just buy a new glove. I suggested the overhaul to DD and she scrunched up her nose and said "but it smells bad..." LOL. The A2000 is that Wilson? Is there padding? She hates her current Mizuno (given to her by team) because it lacks padding.

We have two girls on my DD's travel team that use the Vinci RV1961-L. The BV1929 gets tons of love here though. I think the 1961 may be a little better at 1B. It's a 12.75" that plays around 12.5" with a really snug hand stall which works well with a female hand. One of those girls uses it for outfield, the other uses it for pitching and 1B and loves it for those positions!
