Anybody ever try targeting a softball with a Police issue radar gun?
I see a municipal auction with some still working popo guns

Thanks all - I knew the technology is the same but I thought that maybe the software would filter-out a small object like a ball (on the cop radar).

I am going to bid on it and hopefully win it and I will report back :)

We used to have the police come and radar some of our pitchers. Our diamond is near one of their favorite spots to shoot radar. So, they would tune their guns with that tuning fork and then use it to gun our pitchers. I don't now how old that technology is now.

Actually it does filter out smaller objects from bigger. It will report back the speed of the object with the strongest signal. Which is why I was getting regular readings of 70+ mph at a 14U game, that had an adjacent highway. As long as nothing else larger is moving you should be just fine. This also means that it will pick up a bat and disregard the signal from a ball. Which is why any pitch resulting in a swing, or hit ball needs to be scrutinized. :)
