It's time for a new glove....

DD Will be 11 in Nov, 1st year 12u. 5' 3" Predominantly a RHP but also plays 1st and right field. Need something light and something to last until high school. She has big hands for her age (goes with her feet, 8 1/2 women's)

We are considering a Nokona buckaroo, Vinci or an A2000. Thinking 12.5
Open to other gloves if we can get a good recommendation.

What do you all think????? Really need some help here.

For reference, my glove was bought used at a garage sale from a boy down the street. It had his name carved it in. That was back in the late 1970's. So you know I really need help here.

All are great choices. Have her try them (if possible) to see which she likes best.

That being said, we're an A2000 family.

Daughter has 2 yr old Nokona.
- Had to have it relaced after 1 year under warranty
- After year 2, a small hole started to develop between index and middle finger in the palm of the glove.....
Considered getting a new glove vs. repair, but DD wanted it fixed. DD loves the Nokona and is confident with it. It is a heavy glove and takes time to break in. She plays a lot of games every year and we were careful keeping it in form and oiled.
- Considered a Vinci as a replacement, but stuck with the Nokona.

The A2000 with the pebbled back is pretty light. DD picked one up in early August and played with it today so break in time was minimal and we did no steaming or driving the car on it. I did construct a SB mallet that we used to whack it about 500 times.

Since you're talking A-2000 money.............

You can't go wrong with high-end Wilson's, Mizuno's, Rawlings, Vinci's, etc. Another option is a custom-made glove. I ordered my dd a Capire kip leather catcher's mitt in her school colors with her name embroidered on it. I also measured her hand to custom fit the mitt. It fits like a.....lol.....glove and she absolutely loves it.

I'd like to add one thing. At 11 they still leave stuff at the field, heck 16yos do too. She may decide to play a different position or to play soccer instead. I think I'd save buying a 200.00 glove for later. I would however highly recommend this glove.

Worth Century 11.75

Very light weight. Pocket forms quickly and the glove is almost ready to play when you get it. DD used this glove for 2.5 years until she got the A2000.

A few months ago, my 11yo DD (also with big feet and long fingers) had her hand in gloves from Wilson, Mizuno, All-Star, and Worth. Her choice was a 12.5" Worth Liberty Advanced.

I'm a Wilson A2000 guy for baseball. However DD chose a Nokona Buckaroo 12.5 this past summer. It broke in quickly with nothing put on it. We are both very satisfied.
My advise is to take her to a specialty baseball/softball store and let her choose for herself. DD seems to take better care of it and take ownership of it more than the gloves dear old dad just gave her.(Plus she paid some of her own $ for it)

Just remember you get what you pay for!!
