First laid eyes on the Mako this weekend as it put one 30 feet over my left fielders head at the fence.

What size CF6 are you thinking? I have to clear out some bats before dw finds out I ordered more. I have a 32/22, it was light for dd, so I hit some fungos to the girls with it. It is pretty hot and I would go cheap.

Update: CF6 has sold!

What are you buying?

A 33/23 scn1b and found a 23oz srv4b with a stamp at sports authority.

Excellent choices Sir! I even get excited when other people buy softball gear:) I'm trying to get a 2b, even though we've only had the 1B for about 3 weeks. It needed some breaking in but that thing is hot.

My daughter used Xenos for the past several years. I got tired of replacing them so I bought a Mako and a SRV4B. At first she was all over the Mako. It is a good bat...but now, she's exclusively using the SRV4B. It's got way more pop. You can get them on ebay for < $150 bucks, too.

I wonder how much pop a bat has is perceived. Once a player loses confidence in a bat it's over regardless of how hot a bat may be or vice versa. A player sees another girl smashing the ball with a supposed hot bat and then she wants one and starts swinging a bit harder or what have you. Don't get me wrong, I place a huge amount of value on the mental part of the game but I just don't see a big difference in these bats. If there were, nobody would be buying the "other" bat, whichever one that may be. I've also known players that cheat and roll their bats etc so who knows what is legitimate and what isn't.

I have my reasons for thinking this but mostly comes from a different sport, golf. I am a scratch golfer. I have had the same set of clubs for 14 years. I use an old school Taylor Made Burner driver...I think the head is like 50cc not these 500cc monsters or whatever they are you see now. I have played rounds with new clubs, old clubs, borrowed sticks whatever and I have not gained anything from it worth noting. I have hit monster drives with the Burner and I have hit monster drives with whatever the newest one is. It doesn't matter.

Point being if it takes a certain bat to give a player confidence to meet their abilities, great, but I for one won't get caught up in the hype.....that doesn't mean the DD's won't though!!

DD's "current" bat is a very hot '11 Easton Stealth (barely broken in as she was out for two seasons for medical reasons), but I picked up a new Mako to begin breaking in and have ready for use when the Stealth begins to fail.

While she is a great slapper, she is a textbook power hitter (5'8", 140 and ripped). She loves the new Mako (33/23) and is already crushing it in practice. With weather in central Illinois, both bats are "retired" for the season and she's begrudgingly using the luminum Wal-Mart bats for any remaining outdoor work!
