    Default Concusions,and your childs life!!!

I had a earlier post about my dd having a concussion and how she was having major problems.I can not tell you how important it is to watch them.My dd was airlifted to Pittsburg childrens hospital on Monday night. She had to have brain surgery to save her eye sight and maybe worse then that her life.I write this right now with tears in my eyes, knowing that I could have lost her.I never want to see any child go thru this.If my dd can ever play softball again, right now I can say that softball is not even on my mind. But I have answered the facemask question, even though she didn't get hurt playing softball, she was playing BB.I will never let her play with out a mask in softball. She only fell and hit her head, got up right a way and kept playing BB in gym.But that was all it takes.Love your dd's and please protect them from head injuries. To the high school coaches and the college coaches, dont look down on a girl that wants to wear a mask.If it saves thier life, thats all you should care about, also if you could find in your heart to pray for my dd, would mean so much. Her name is Emily

Oh my god, I am so sorry to hear this, Nanotech. I am glad that Emily is still with us and hope that the surgery was a success. I cannot imagine what she and your family are going through right now, but thank you for sharing this cautionary story. Others will benefit.

Oh my gosh, prayers going up for your family! I have a DD named Emily myself. Both my daughters wear masks 100% of the time on the field, always have, always will.

Let us know how her surgery turns out please.

Echoing other posters. Thought and prayers are with you. That is so scary. It could easily happen to any one. Best of luck on a full recovery for Emily.

Nano, you and your daughter have been on my mind since you first reported the complications resulting from the concussion. I know how upset DW and I were when my son had to have surgery after getting hit by a baseball, and that is nothing compared to what you and your family have endured. I really hope things get better from here.

Prayers going up from Tucson. I am so happy that you were near one of the best children's hospitals in the nation. Let us know when she can have cards, t-shirts, etc. Amy Newtson
