This week took advantage of nice weather to make skills video. Used my iPad with tripod. Since I was off work today went to work on putting all the video clips together but video quality wasn't too good. Never had any issues in the past. I have a GoPro but battery wasn't charged so didn't use it.

Any recommendations on how to clean up the video quality? I'd like to use these video clips as techniques were good. Also, weather getting worse and don't have any indoor facility to rent out.

What version of iPad are you using? I would think an iPad would have a good camera in it. Kind of surprised the video quality was not good.

Think it's about 4 years old. The video wasn't too bad but when we imported it into Windows movie maker it looks like lesser video quality and a couple clips had a grainy appearance.

Perhaps a one shot deal, but I would suggest downloading a trial version of adobe premiere pro. I can't recall how long the trial lasts. But it might help you clean up the video and put a good render together.

Btw, invest in a cheap USB battery and you will always have available power to run the GoPro. Just plug it into the USB port and you are good to go.

How old is the PC you imported it to?

I had an issue where I was paranoid to transfer from an iPhone to my PC b/c the video was choppy when I downloaded and played a copy. Turns out my PC was too old and my video card couldn't support the HD (720p) graphics.

While my issue was much more obvious than just "poor quality" - it could be something to look at.

The video is not as clear / sharp once we view it in the video software. Currently using windows movie maker. The PC is about 3 years old and is relatively high end, got it after Christmas and is a Dell computer used for gaming. The video looks fine on the iPad but once in the software seems to degrade the clarity. I could some YouTube videos to render better quality but haven't had time to try it.

Will check out the Adobe software thanks. I do have a backup battery for the GoPro but couldn't find it. Kids put it in their room so didn't know where it was at the time.

Apple and Microsoft don't always play nicely together, so you could have a file compatibility issue. I haven't used MovieMaker in a while, but at one point it wouldn't work with .mov files that were a common Apple container/format. I would have expected it to refuse to work at all rather than have degraded quality, but if compatibility happened to be the case, you could convert the files to solve your problem.

Agree... SSpiff.... I haven't never used MovieMaker. Hows it work with .mp4 ?

My video editor has pre-view settings... I leave them really low, so I can work thru it faster ?? Make a 30 second clip, render, then see how it lookz.
