I know some people enjoy playing in Winter Showcases, but I would be careful that you do not get into a situation where your DD is playing year round more than one year during her HS career, especially if she is a pitcher. Down time is important and Thanksgiving - January seems to be the best time to get it. If your DD has ambitions to play in college it is inevitable that she will probably have to attend some winter showcases and college clinics when she is in the middle of the recruiting process. My DD did this her sophomore year and when I added it up she pitched @ 20 months straight.
We actually took August and September off, and October was pretty light so we are good this year. Trying to keep it reasonable - but as you know, hard to do. DD is going to have to pitch HS varsity as a freshman - that is going to be a rough road year one.
We play HS ball in the Fall in GA, which has some advantages, the main one being the weather is usually good in Aug/Sept/Oct. Glad your DD got some time off, but I would personally rather play in the Fall and take time off in the Winter.
Marriad, that looks like a winner!!! I would give anything our team would attend that camp/showcase! Good luck with it and you have an amazing set of schools there watching!
