I cannot believe it finally happened. After so many years of shooting themselves in the foot I was just afraid something would happen and it would get away again.
I'm so happy they won. Doesn't change my life in the least. But still happy. If I ever get a time machine, I can go back and tell the sad 13 year old in '69 that it'll all be ok. Eventually.
We might not win this year but we are going to be back here next year and the year after that. We are going to keep coming back and we will see what happens.

"Of course, we might not be wearing Cubs uniforms, because we're free agents and we will sign with different teams after the season. But, it doesn't matter. Because the same players come back year after year for different teams...So, we will be back!"
Our chaplain was from Chicago and was a life long Cubs fan and due to my respect for him I became a Cubs fan as well, he unfortunately passed away last spring and after 76 years I know he would have been on cloud nine with the Cubs victory.
I thought that the baseball season ended when the Cardinals did not make the playoffs.
Ok, so I am happy for my buddies up north. Ted and Jim, congratulations. They are die hard Cub Fans and so, this means a lot to them. My friend Jim must have thought that this was a special World Series. His dad is Lou Boudreau. So, his dad played for the Indians and is a Hall of Fame member and then was the Cubs announcer for 31 years. Jim played in the Cubs organization. I know he has to be walking on air today and so happy.
I had a proud papa moment tonight. My 9 year old daughter was up in her room playing the cubbies victory song and singing right along. You have to love it.
