It really would make more sense if more of the mid-level/small orgs were given a shot at the main complex for at least a couple of games. The biggies could have 4-5 and then play 2 somewhere else. As mentioned above, most of the 18U Gold teams are already fully committed or close to it at this point. Why not give other teams (who are paying just as much OR MORE than the big guys) a shot at some prime recruiting?

Seems to me that you'd get more teams coming back and a lot more positive press. But what do I know?

I was going to say the same thing. And we are an 18U Gold team, and on a remote field, so it's not that all the 18U Gold teams are at the main complex.

Unfortunately this concept is lost on most people. Your players did not get recruited because of D9 attendance numbers. They got recruited because they worked the process. The number of coaches and teams attending is a moot point. What matters is if the coaches you have contacted are attending.

My DD played at D9 last year and she did get interest from coaches who stopped to watch..but she was also a hard throwing uncommitted freshman pitcher and happened to also hit a ball off the fence while there. This year she is picking up with a a different team (hers is not going) and she is excited to be playing at the main fields (10-15?) and have the opportunity to face some of the best batters in the country!

My DD had the same experience. But I am sure you know that kids with a mid-60's riseball as a 9th grader are not the norm. Most have to take a more conventional approach. Even when my DD was committed I would have her throw gas to bring in coaches and redirect them to other players. :)

DDs team is playing there this weekend. First game is this afternoon. Hope it's a good experience and beneficial to the girls. I for one wasn't thrilled with missing a day of school to go.

Let us know how it goes. Know several teams from SoCal that are there. One team is lucky to playing mostly at the ESPN fields, the other team is playing off-site and I have a gut feeling won't be too happy come Monday?
