DD going to first college camp advise needed

DD is a 2020 grad. She is going to her first college camp next weekend. Previously she has attended a team camp and a couple of camps at a local d3 school. The camp is at a top 10 school and Would be quite a reach for DD. Should DD email the coach and tell him that she is attending or is that something that should be reserved for schools that are more a match for her? What should she wear? Her tb coach wants her to wear her to uniform to represent the organization. Anything else she should do?

Thanks in advance

My dd always wore her TB Uniform when she attended camps. A brief email is thoughtful and if the coach doesn't like it, they can hit delete.

Any shirt with her name on the back and softball pants (no shorts...look the part!). Also, make sure her email consist of her "full name.net". DD wants to get her name in the coaches head.

Wear the TB uniform. Not so much to represent the organization but you want that association later when she is at a showcase. Our team colors are Orange, Black, and White. Our players always wear Orange to stand out from the others. Definyely email the coach. No guts, no glory!

Definitely wear the TB uniform. I would suggest that after the camp she approach the coach and thank them for having the camp and ask the coach what they can do to become a "insert college name here".

DD always wore her practice shirt from the team. Included team name and number. Email before and thank afterwards. After a dozen camps, if the response is "thanks for attending" she was not memorable in the coaches mind. If the response is "great job, keep in touch." you are on the radar. If the response is no 1, wouldn't stop emailing if you think DD has room to grow and improve.

Lots of great advice here, another thing I might suggest is to ask your TB coach to call the college head coach a few days prior to the camp to give them a heads up about what kind of player you DD is. We did this for my DD's first camp and at the registration table the coach immediately knew her and talked about her grades and her hitting.

An update for everyone. Thanks to everyone who provided advice. DD went to camp yesterday. Based on the advice here she emailed the head coach and assistant coach who was the contact person for the camp. She also wore her favorite TB uniform combo. Parents got to watch the camp and it was excellent. The instructors had a great presence and did a really good job holding the girls attention. In the hitting portion they did a very good job breaking down the swing and explaining not only how to do it but also why it was important to do it that way. Everything I heard mirrored what I have read on this site and hear from my DD's hitting coach. The defense section did the same thing. DD was pretty down when we left because she did not do anything to stand out. She realized there are a lot of good softball players out there and she still has work to do. She has been on a run of playing well this fall and getting a lot of notice. Hopefully this will help her desire to work hard over the winter. Then in passing she said when she thanked the assistant coach at the end of camp she asked about her travel team. The coach asked her to keep in touch and send a schedule of what tournaments her team is playing. It was probably just the coach being polite but I told her she must have noticed something for her to say that much.

Thanks again for everyone's input
