For a local showcase the tournament director is making pool games start with a 1-1 count which he assures the players and college coaches like....the players I've talked to it hate it but anyone played in this format (except slow pitch of course)? My pitchers are not going to be happy with this but we need to play in it for the exposure.

I like the advanced count. It speeds up the game and the #1 priority is being seen by college coaches. We will also skip warm ups between innings to maximize the innings we get to play. Pitchers get one pitch and down, play ball.

I'm not sure I would care for the 2-1 count, but our team did a 1-1 count at a dome tournament a couple of years ago. We actually enjoyed it, and I'm the dad of a pitcher.

The 1-1 count isn't that big a deal. The 2-1 is a challenge, but I would think how the player handles that challenge would be of great interest to the scouts.

We played with a 2-1 count. My only advise was for the pitchers parents to stay home. It's brutal.

That would be tough. My DD likes to start with 3 balls sometimes to make the batter think she can't pitch. Other times, she needs 3 balls to get the range, much like when you call in an artillery strike. And, of course, my favorite is when she loads the bases on walks before getting herself together. :)
