Have you ever tried lighting a field?

My DD has a pitching lesson tonight and her PC changed field locations to one I'm pretty sure will be unlit. Don't think I'll try tonight, but was wondering if anyone had ever brought portable lights to the field for something like this and how much light is needed. I know there's some crazy people here. Someone must have done this.

We've used the car headlights for pitching and football practice.

Halogen stand with 2 lights on it.

Or just start a bonfire with the 53 softball T-shirts your DD has in her room that she never wears. :D

I have a couple of these halogen lights, we tried but because the lights were only 5' tall, no matter where we sat them, either the catcher or the pitcher was blinded. So we tried moving them to the roof of the dugouts to get more elevation. It was better, but the distance made it not bright enough for the catcher to really see the ball all that well.

Lights on stand between p and c. Cardboard blinders taped.to side of lights angeled to block light toward p and c might work.

This might work if the lights were LED. The halogen lights get extremely hot and will likely start a fire if cardboard were directly touching it.

Pitch lesson then s'mores for good job. Good point and the LED may work little better on Green ball.

Catcher blinded = big problem. Pitcher blinded = meh

I would HIGHLY advise a helmet and shin guards in low light conditions. Especially if you are as old as I am and your eyesight is not what it used to be...
