While the method of fundraising is one thing, the need is real. My issue is how the money is spent. In the case of TB the money can be minium, $150 per tourny times 6 tourneys plus insurance and few whatEvers and uniforms. To $500+ tourneys, uniforms etc, plus coaching fees lodging etc and can very high. In tb we can shop for coaching and cost. Make a decision and join . Don't like how the money is spent move on start shopping again.

School ball kills me. I know there are costs the schools don't cover and I'm good with that. I know the UTV they drag field with was bought from previous fund raising and I'm good there, figuring I'm just paying it ahead like the ones before my DD. I come unglued when she comes home with custom printed or embroidered sweats, practice uniforms x8 (shirt/ short combos) on name brand apparel, when they only practice 5-6 times before season and 2 to 3 times during season. On top of.that name brand rain jacket for a diamond sport that cant be played in the rain for the most part. Then the weekend tourny an hour away but requires overnight stay including meals. Almost seems raise more just so I can spend more. Not raise money for specific need. Wonder how many HS coaches would spend the same if forced to publish all spending. Yes we can ask to see the books, and question it. I do want them to furnish everything she needs to enjoy the season and that takes money but money spent don't equal success. I know they aren't pocketing it but spend they will.

Lol, reminds me of a HS coach DD#1 had... Great guy but he just handed the girls a catalog and told them to pick everything out... Oh yeah, that was one of those really "great" ideas... Needless to say it didn't end well...

However, being in the south where football is king (rightfully so) and the other sports are all secondary, I am not certain I would not rather have a DD on a HS team that tends to "overspend" than on another that doesn't even have its own field on campus and has to use the city field for all its home games... For example, the football team for DD#2 has a stadium that rivals most D2 colleges, two practice fields that NO ONE else can use, and its own weight room that is better equipped than a lot of lower level D1 schools... Yet, there is not a baseball field, softball field, etc on the campus... For a home game, the players dress in the rest room at the city rec field...

So, it could always be "worse"...

Could be worse, your correct. Just seeing if others have seen same stuff. Like I said I want them to have what it takes . Just rough seeing kids burning fuel, study time seeing something just so coaches have money to burn. If it takes 10k yr to operate I have no problem with a goal of 13-15k with $ set aside for specific goals or luxury items like BP cage or power equipment or lights, bleachers etc. Some money set back for future uniforms all paying ahead. Just somethings are not essential for a successful season .

Sounds like you have the makings of a good Title IX complaint.
