When taking your DD to an organization that her older sister played for, and you left that org in good standing, would you send her in practice shirt/shorts/helmet from that org to their tryout? Same question in returning to an org that DD played for 2 years ago but didn't have a team at her age level last year so had to go elsewhere. Both specific coaches are new to the respective organizations so don't necessarily know the connection.

BTW - obviously she needs to play great and earn an offer. I think her confidence will be boosted by wearing some team wear of the team she is trying out for but don't want to break from the standards in a negative way.

Usually the only ones wearing team gear are the girls from last year "trying out"....and the odds are REALLY high they are making the team.

Otherwise an old tournament or camp shirt works best.

Usually on the form they will ask if you played before and for what teams...you can put info about playing before there; assuming the girls have the same last name and parent contact info coach should be able to put two and two together

Pretty much what I was thinking - it's going to be an interesting couple of weeks...

No, my DD doesn't even wear her team gear for the same team or team within the same organization when she is trying out... I never liked it when I coached so I don't allow it now... She will wear her school jersey, so she has a number on it but nothing else related to the team she is trying out for...

If she played there before, she can wear her old stuff if she wants.

I would say "no", however, to wearing older sister's gear if she (the player trying out) herself had not been in the org before.

We tell our returning players not to wear team gear at tryouts. I would not be so presumptuous to wear team gear to a tryout for a team that my DD never played for, even if her big sister did.

Generally, my DDs wear a tourney shirt or one of their camp shirts to tryouts.

^^^ Maj, I totally agree. I like for my DD to wear a tourney/camp shirt and not her team gear. It reinforces that as of the final tournament she is no longer on the team and needs to re-earn her spot and not assume anything will be given.
