Default shortstop exercises

I am a volunteer high school coach and have a sophmore with limited range in the shortstop position. Are there any good exercises that could be recommended to help her learn to extend her depth and range?

You have to work on her lateral agility and first step quickness. In addition to hitting her balls on each side, make sure her footwork is good. There is nothing like softball-specific things. Set up cones on her side and the goal is to get to the ball before it goes through. You know that kind of drills.

Outside of softball drills, work on general lateral agility and first-step quickness drills. Here are a few good ones:

There is a tons of other ones but this is a good start.

Marc:

Have you ever seen FSN Sport Science? The following link is a clip from a segment done on Chad Johnson's ability to cover 2,786 cubic feet...amazing.
