My dd has always choked up about 1 inch on every bat she has used since she was about 12. It's what's comfortable. Regardless of length she chokes up that same amount.

No choking up ever. I even ask the parents to not say it from the bleachers when their child has two strikes. It's goofy coaching

Thanks for saying this. There was a parent on my DDs last team who did 1st base coach once in a while and every time there was a slightly fast pitcher he told every girl to choke up. Drove me nuts. Took me while to convince mine not to do it as she saw him as kind of a coach. I'd rather she have a proper size bat and learn proper swing to hit a fast pitcher. On the other hand with my younger son I use a donut to choke up with as his mom bought him a bat too big for him.

^ You think he wouldn't have hit no matter what he did?
Absolutely! But, he felt it gave him better control and it worked for him. My daughter chokes up with 2 strikes and has been very successful and others do it at all levels of the sport. My opinion is to do what works for the individual.
