For the sake of players who want a better softball IQ, or coaches who want to improve their team's mental makeup, what are the most common mental mistakes by TB players?

I was thinking a list would be helpful.

For example

- Runner on third base breaks for home on ball hit deep into the outfield with less than 2 outs, can't get back in time to tag up.

Not the most common, but saw it twice this week.

What are others?

The one you mentioned drives me nuts, put the Issue squarely on the 3rd base coach more then player.
I
One that causes trouble is runner on 1st with ball in the air a little bit to the IF. They like trying to get far enough 1st to have a chance to make it to 2nd if someone flubs it. You are done do not, do not get doubled off. I will take the easy out at 2nd if you are stuck.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt in the 5-6 hole, It's the one directly to 3rd or SS that kills me. Not tagging up is one I see all the time.

Hesitating on a passed ball and then going late is another.

The one that kills me is having coach tell you 10 times there are 2 outs and still not going on the crack of the bat.

BR listening to 3B coach on a hard grounder instead of turning their whole body to watch the action and getting out or not scoring because the window of opportunity is now gone!

This will be a good, infinitely LONG, list!

What I hate is when I call a time-out to make sure the batter and/or runner know what they are to do only to have them NOT DO IT.

Telling a third-baseman to move UP only to have them creep forward a half an inch.

Having the things you just worked on in practice the same week not show up in games on the weekend.

Swinging on a 3-0 count....and not talking about getting a meatball
Not knowing/following the signs
Not sliding on a close play, especially to break up the potential for a double play

See that way too often. Just this weekend, saw a girl that I normally believe to be a hard-nosed player. She's committed to a major D-I school. And she loafed into 2B, not thinking the third baseman was going for the force.
