I'm a little confused today. I watched a great softball game, and saw my DD's team lose 6-5. They lost with dignity...they played well. The other team was one run better than they were today. Winning is better than losing, but there is no humiliation in losing a well played game.

The team was hugging each other after the game, and you could see that something special had happened on the team. And, it was good. I was very proud of my DD and her team.

And then I read about Baylor...and I wonder how an entire community and university can lose their soul in order to win a football game.

"For what if a person profited, and gained the whole world, yet loses his soul?"

Disgusting failure on the part of Baylor U. to properly control its football program...

Excerpts from Baylor Report

The whole community of Waco was in on it...the university, the police and the newspapers. All to protect the Sacred Football Program.

Not trying to be a smart rear, but it is football in Texas. That by no means condones such actions, but it shouldn't be unexpected considering the sport has become a deity and some people just will not step out of the 20th century unless it pertains to turf fields and super boxes at the field.

I'm surprised the NCAA isn't all in their business or are they?

I think the Univ president got Sh!tcanned as well. Baylor football isn't even that good. Having grown up in TX I can say it's not TT, UT or A&M.

Yeah, I grew up in Arkansas during the days of the old Southwest Conference, all Texas schools plus Arkansas. Baylor was never a powerhouse.

The worst I've heard so far is the sports program is accused of threatening victims to keep them quiet.

Geez, you would think Kenneth Star knew something about obstruction of justice.

Lots of heads need to roll, people need to see some prison bars, and the NCAA needs to shut down the Baylor football program.

Hey lets not be too hard on Texas. We have similar problems with priorities here in Tennessee, and truth be told, all over the country.
It is a battle coaching in a school system, and dealing with the (mis)allocation of funds when it comes to sports.

They've been fairly dominant the past three seasons. Not sure about A&M, but they've been better than TT and UT.

Baylor has been very good recently. There needs to be some kind of.penalty that is stiff enough to send a.message.

I played football and baseball in a small (10,000) texas town in the 90s. One where the entire town shut down on a fri night. Football WAS LIFE.

3 players in my graduating class were NFL starters. In school those kids were idolized by ALL. They didn't earn a grade, check, etc. Boosters gave them everything literally. We had a 1.5 million dollar stadium built my senior year by booster money. In a 10,000 pop town!

The stories I can tell.......

Not saying its right but Baylor is the norm for TX football. They got caught-most don't.
