Parents, regardless of your feelings about what may or may not have transpired, please talk to your daughters about the importance of reporting rape to the authorities IMMEDIATELY. No scholarship or sports team is worth this kind of heartache. I pray rape never touches your family, but the statistics don't bear that out.

Understood. I hate it when people say "I don't believe her. Why did she wait 30 years, to come forward?" Believe me, I would have never told. I know other women that feel the same way, and that is why predators get away with it.

Don't go to the university, go to the police.

Kent state keeps send my dd emails & brochures. This the second bad thing I heard about them. Dd wants to go to Liberty University, but with Liberty being Div.1. I'm afraid that it will be impossible for her to make the team, but they do have a archery team and since she has been doing archery longer then softball. She going down to Liberty this summer for an elite camp, so you never know.

I was wondering about the 15 month gap between the initial Title IX complaint to the university and the follow up complaint to the Title IX coordinator - had to read the entire complaint to get down to Linder not reporting like she was supposed to.

I know Linder, DD just finished a 5 week hitting and mental approach class with her. I was going to have her present at my rec league's coach the coaches.

It's messed up for sure. But I do wonder how many of us would turn our own kid in when it comes down to it, especially if the complaint isn't filed soon after the incident. I hope it's a situation I never find myself in. I like to think my kids are good kids who "would never do anything remotely like that" but do we ever know for sure?

As for this case, I hope the girl wins both her criminal and civil suit.

Well, you must really be torn on this. Her sins are covering up for her son, rather than committing a horrible act herself. Well, the retaliation was really bad, as well. Shows a huge lack of character.

I am sure your DD was perfectly safe in that situation.

Still, you have a dilemma. A talented coach who appears to have shown horrible judgement. Who not only failed in her duty to protect a student, but made life a living hell for that student. Instead of building up her softball program, she destroyed it. So, what do you do about the presentation? I am sure she would do a good job, but...

I deleted something I posted here a few hours ago, since there was a very small chance I might have given away too much information, that could've identified an assault victim.

Let me just say, from things I have heard, rape can be a truly horrific experience for girls and young ladies, and the effects can be devastating for a very long time.

I think I'd be letting her know that unfortunately she's no longer going to be presenting.
