My DD, 9, is addicted to the dirt beyond my comprehension. I don't have the budget for lessons of any kind right now, so I've just been doing the best I can with the treasure trove of information here. 1 year ago, she had never played softball. Scratch that, she never played anything. Last season, she was rated #1. Granted, it was the fall and the REALLY TALENTED girls were playing their secondary sports (or moving on to travel), but that's still a great accomplishment and a testament to her hard work and the information that came 98% from DFP. Fast forward to this season. She was ranked #5, which she was estatic about considering the talent that came out (and she scouted). She has progressed as a player in the off season, but couldn't really work on catching live pitching (because I can't pitch to save anyone's life). Just so happens that there is a certain crazy 10U mom on DFP who needed a catcher for her DD who is a travel player. Long story short, it wasn't even a week after that, my DD, who wants to play travel, was catching for a travel pitcher and did a pretty decent job...a decent enough job to be asked back a second time. The second time she came, the PI asked her if she could stay and catch for her next student. Although DD declined (because her legs were limp noodles by that point), it made her feel really good that her hard work with her dad actually translated to someone else thinking she was good enough to help a travel player. I can't imagine how that would've occurred without DFP. My DD has a great deal of stress in her life. Her brother is special needs and she handles it so remarkably. It seems that almost everything in our world is centered around him because of the great challenges he faces 24 hours a day. Softball is her oasis, though. To be able to provide her with an opportunity to feel like "a big girl catching for a REAL pitcher" is something I can't thank DFP for enough.

She does an awesome job and has saved me many bruises already! She's also a really sweet kid. :D
