I was wondering if there is a better way to video other than with a gopro? I am not crazy about how the gopro videos games. The playback is so small. It is hard to see the infield. I also tried the gopro videoing basketball games and did not like that either. Is there something better out there? What do you use?
Please let me know.
Thanks!

Which one do you have?

Here is two views of the settings I have used. Med and narrow

They are much cleaner to view on my iPad. Also I can zoom in on a specific part of the field. GoPro silver. Setting are 1080, 30fps, and either med or narrow.

With the GoPro, much of it really depends on the particular model you have. GoPro breaks up their cameras into 2 groups: Entry Level and Performance. None of the Entry Level cameras (Basic Hero, Hero+, and Hero+LCD) should be used for recording games. The reason is that it only has 1 field of view (FOV), which is basically how wide the camera shoots. These cameras only shoot in UltruWide FOV. Far too wide when shooting for detail at a distance. Secondarily, the quality of video that they produce causes fall off rather quickly. This means that by the time you get past the pitcher, the detail/lighting really falls off the table. In retrospect, and of the Performance cameras (Hero 4 Session, Hero 4 Silver, and Hero 4 Black) have the additional FOV and the quality to produce really great video. For various reason, some of the performance cameras are better suited for recording games. We rank and talk about the reasons why here:

If you want to move into a more traditional camcorder with a manual zoom, we are fond of Panasonic and Sony. Note however, you will lose the ruggedability functionality that the GoPro shines in. If you are mounting it to the fence, take caution to the location. A direct foul ball hit could kill it.

Hope this helps.

4. The narrow shot seems to b a little larger. How do you zoom in? I can zoom in a little with Kinovea but I sure wish I could make it larger. Is there a program that would do this? I enjoy making video clips of the girls in action and post on youtube.

What settings do you have your gopro on. I have a gopro 4 sliver. Maybe I am not using it right.

With the GoPro software you can zoom in after the recording. We usually use the medium setting and then when we edit it we do the zoom to take out the edges we don't need. I love the gopro!

You can't really zoom it in to video. But once you have it downloaded, (I use an iPad for now) then when I replay the video, I can zoom it in to which ever part of the field that I want to see. GoPro app lets me cut 5, 15, or 30 second clips that I save to my iPad and send to which ever player is involved on the play.

Hope I explained it correctly.

Next purchase will be a computer to do more editing.
