Looking for a catcher's mitt to catch my daughter. I have large hands, and I have already had to return 2 mitts I couldn't get my hands into. She doesn't throw overly hard (45mph 10u) but she has already broke 2 strings in my regular 2 gloves. Around $100 is what I'm looking to spend, thanks in advance.

Picked up an Akadema Praying Mantis 34" for catching my DD and it's worked out well so far. Well broken in out of the box, good size, plenty of room for a big hand. Less than $100.

My only suggestion would be to get a glove that is thick and has heavy padding. Since you are using the glove for bucket time vs. games, the extra padding will come in handy as your DD grows. A lot of game gloves are thin to give the catchers more "feel" and quicker transitions on throw downs, when you are on the bucket you do not want "feel", you want padding....trust me.

Louisville Slugger makes a bucket dad mitt.... called the Big Daddy.... I bought mine 6 or 7 years ago and have caught a ton of pitchers ranging from 8-18 yrs old, and countless pitches....still in amazing condition. Retails for about $80

Just the name makes me want to buy one!

I want a catchers mitt not a first basemen's glove! Thanks #10, I will be buying that one later today.

Understood, but a 1B glove offers you a longer glove for reaching and it will be easier to find a model that fits your hand for your budget. If the thinner padding becomes a problem, you can always solve that with different products on your hand.

I've used 1B for years and because of its much larger pocket, hardly ever received one in the palm where it would hurt.
