Funny how it is similar to the hate Curt Shillings got for doing a fastpitch game.

I was just going to make a similar observation. The guy from Atlanta is a first class tool, but it's hard for me to think that someone who had an issue with Schilling doing color at the WCWS wouldn't have a similar issue with Mendoza calling baseball games.

As for me, I guess I just don't have a big problem with either.

I would rather listen to Vin Scully, but would rather look at Jessica Mendoza! Just Saying........

Its not a bad thing women are commentating over male dominate sports. Football is a major victory on this .

Kids had homework so had to watch the game with no sound so I can't comment on her work last night. However, I'm pretty sure I heard her on some Sunday night games and she never said anything that sounded moronic or out of place which is probably why she got promoted to a playoff game.

Though I'm pretty sure whatever she said was more intelligent than anything ATL DJ has ever said.

Not sure why, but Mendoza is much better in the baseball booth than the fastpitch booth IMO! My only disappointment was that the other talking heads avoided referring to the dreaded "Mendoza Line" when Chris Carter came to the plate with his paltry .199 BA.

I think some of the pushback for both Mendoza and Schilling is resentment. In Mendoza's case, you have a sports radio guy in Atlanta who works in a competitive world of sports broadcasting and he thinks he knows more about sports than women and resents women getting jobs that he feels he could do better. Mendoza is symbolic of all that. And with Schilling, it's a resentment from the softball community. Pick one of us, not this baseball player.

For me, I like different perspectives and variety. So I'm fine with either. If I don't like one, it's not going to be because of their gender or background. It's their commentary. I'd much rather hear Mendoza because I know her background, I like hearing what she has to say. I like the added suspense of how she's going to do. I'm pulling for her. I love softball. She's one of great ambassadors of the sport. My daughter for one is very excited to hear Mendoza in the booth for baseball. I vote yes.
