DD called her mom last evening complaining of throwing up and being dizzy, thinking she had a stomach virus we advised jello, broth and sprite. We also recommended a trip to the college nurse and glad we did that.

Wife just called and it turns out she has a concussion the first one we are familiar with she has had, she was pitching to a teammate from behind a screen and some how got hit in the head by a line drive, which she did not tell us until she was told by the nurse she had a concussion.

Kind of scary for her mom and I.

Yikes, glad she is okay and glad that you were thinking enough to recommend that campus nurse. A lot of parents don't even realize that they are available.

Glad she went to the nurse. Hope she has a speedy recovery!

Concussions are no good.

Since she did not understand what happened to her in the first place you need to stay on top of her and the school. It is not going to be fun for anyone.

I wish your DD luck.

No, she took her out of practice for 2 days and told her to take aspirin.

The actual injury took place a few days ago.

OK, that's very fortunate. I would still have her seen by a doctor and obtain clearance to go back to practice (and classes). Nothing against the nurse or team trainers, but I think it is important, especially if she had lingering symptoms.

I, for one, am a bit surprised and bothered that her coaching staff did not address the injury properly.
Head injuries are no joke, and I would have tough questions for the coaching staff - why she wasn't examined immediately?

To be fair, maybe her coaches didn't even know what happened?
I could see this happening, if she was engaged in an isolated drill and didn't have the coaches eyes on her at the time.
Sounds like she gave it little thought at the time.
"hit in the head by a line drive" seems like it would have drawn some attention, though.
