This is the Texas turn 2 team we played in the world series last week. They called our runner out at third. I understand the rule but I still think it was a dirty play, opinions.

My opinion is the interference call is a little questionable but that is purely umpire judgement. What is completely wrong here is the batter is the one out for interference, not the runner at third.

Wow,

This is more unsettling than the high school catcher knocking the girls down. At the high school level the catcher could be taking it upon herself to knock the runners down. At this level, it is obvious, OBVIOUS, that this is coached behavior and the C doesn't understand how crappy this move is. Unsure if this is parent or coach, but someone has taught this catcher how to get this "easy" out.

Wow....just, wow.

I tell DD not to hesitate on the throw if the batter moves in the way but I'd never have her throw off line to hit a kid. That is just wrong.

Im not going to say it was intentional. What are they 10? The catcher looks like she started to step that way and then batter also backed out of the box. It may have been, it may not have been. Batter needs to hold position in the batters box to not interfere with play. But again, while the interference call may or may not have been warranted, the player called out is not the correct player.

I could be (hope I am) wrong, but I get the sense that this was intentional. If the C was really trying to throw to 3B, there would be a lot more body action involved to make a 60' throw in hopes of picking off a runner. To me, the throw looks like a half-effort not hard enough to hurt the batter, but enough to draw the INT.

She definitely hit her on purpose. At least she took something off it. The runner was maybe 2 feet off the base so she had no chance to get her. Unless she has an amazing softball IQ, it's hard for me to not think someone taught her to do this. I do know that umps in tournaments lately are really stressing that batter needs to keep a foot in the box so it's possible that these teams have been warned over and over again. I have zero respect for anyone who tells a kids to hurt another one on purpose.

I'd have thrown the catcher out of the game and probably the coach too. There was obviously no attempt throw to 3rd just trying to hit the batter to get a call.
