This is some pretty funny stuff on travel sports.
The ProScoutSports, LLC Blog: Do you have to be crazy to be a youth sports parent?: A Sitcom Script

A few examples: Butch: Yeah, he was playing in the 10U POP World Series Classic Exposure Tourney Presented by Port-O-Pot.

Pete: Port-O-Pot sponsors a youth baseball tournament?

Butch: It's actually a perfect sponsor because there are literally hundreds of baseball fields all over Birmingham. You really only get to use a port-o-pot all weekend because you're too busy driving from field to field to find an actual bathroom.

_______________________________

Mack: He pitched two innings all weekend. He gave up 10 runs but none of them were earned. The defense behind him was just terrible. All kinds of errors, a couple of bloop hits, passed balls. Just no support from his teammates.

Pete: Did he get to bat?

Mack: He got a few ABs but the other pitchers were slow and his timing was off. He does much better against top pitching.

Pete: So he can't hit bad pitching but he does hit good pitching? I'm not an athlete but that doesn't make sense.

Butch: Oh, it's very real. Tim struggles with bad pitching too.

Pete: If nobody can hit bad pitching, wouldn't it make "bad" pitchers, uh, good?

Love it!

It's not just those sports. In a few hours, I will travel with my family to Ann Arbor for a college rowing event DS is in. If DS' boat does well, they will travel to Philadelphia in a couple of weeks. He's just a freshie, but some of the upperclassmen will travel to California for the national championships.

His old HS club travelled even MORE.

I can't say because I've always been crazy. Since I know this, and my DD pitches, I pace around mumbling to myself far away from anyone. Kind of like the team mascot.

I got tired of having to keep my crazy to myself so I've decided to buy one of those "Under the Weather" pop ups. They are basically a single person self-contained unit that places a physical barrier between you and everyone else at the field. It would probably be handy for keeping you dry if it happened to rain, too. So that's an added bonus for me since I live in the Seattle area.

For added "crazy" effect, I'm going to buy the camo version. Nothing screams "crazy parent" like camouflage.
