I cannot run faster than a 12yr old girl.:(

Next week I'm going to help out the 6u's, I need a little confidence boost.

When my DD was 10 I used to smoke her in a run longer than 30 yards.
When she hit 11 I raced her a few times and she hit 5th gear.. She smoked me.
It was sad.. I feel your pain.

I'm still a lot faster than my 11yo DD. She's all about power vs speed. However, my 16yo son absolutely destroys me in speed. :(

I started losing the races when she hit 14's. At 18U throwing long toss I started noticing I was putting everything I had into my throws and just getting it there. after a year it's sad to say DD has me beat by a good 5 yds now. I'm learning Wasserman now to see if I can find the extra distance. Maybe Watley can do a video and teach me to be faster.

that's too funny. I probably couldn't run faster than a 12U either, but I bet I could out-limp a 6U :)

Been there, done that one. DD has pretty good wheels, and up to 12 she would challlenge me and i would get the upper hand. After her 1st yr 12u season, we began sending her to a local Velocity training facility during the off season. She got faster, but dad could still get her. DD was a late bloomer..this i believe was my downfall...last season she gained about 4" and 25lbs. Her speed really started to take off. During a vacation last off season at a shore town, after a few adult beverages i accepted her latest challenge. It was just a phone pole to phone pole foot race. Dad was a bit loud and trash talking...not noticing that i was drawing some attention to others on the street who have now come out of their homes and onto their balconies to watch. I think it was about the 5th step when DD grabs the see you later gear...she beats me by a lot..and is greeted back to the starting line by cheers from friends, family, and the complete strangers who have assembled on their balconies...dad has to do the walk of shame to those same people. It was a sad/humbling moment..but a proud one at the same time. At least i can still beat the 11yr old...for now anyway.

Last year my DD didn't stand a chance at any distance. None of the 12U's did. I retired from racing 12U's after completing the season undefeated and will never race my players again. It's all about knowing when to decline the challenges. :)

As for eating. My DD who is skinny can out eat me all day. She's a machine.
