I'd like to add that I believe DFP has many parents, former baseball players, current and former baseball and softball coaches and instructors, and parents of ladies who are and have been in a university softball program. Around here, HS softball is a big deal and is fueled by travel players. But I have learned here on DFP that HS softball is not very competitive in many parts of the country.

My DD has been on two travel teams coached by former D1 players. One was a very good player. One was an outstanding player and still holds a handful of NCAA top 5 individual records. One went to the WCWS Championships three times (won two). One can coach very well and one has not yet learned to coach. DDs pitching coach of four years played men's (gasp) FP for God-knows-how long and was staff at a local D1 university. He continues to focus on fundamentals and results. DDs batting instructor is also a former D1 player and won at two WCWS championships. She does not coach any teams.

So, my point, once again that has been made in many DFP threads, is an excellent ladies FP coach is not determined by whether they were a great player, or if they played at all. It is one who loves the game and can motivate individuals to bring out the best for their team.

DFP good, trolls bad.

Seems like every time I Google something softball related DFP thread hit more of the topics than any other site. That must attest to something. Maybe there is a site out there that attracts the quality of members than this site does but I haven't found it yet. We have plenty of former players, top TB coaches, nationally recognized pitching and hitting instructors, Dads with DDs committed to top programs and in top programs, bucket dads, lunatic softball parents, newbies, I have not seen anything nearly as diverse as this site and it is thriving pretty well IMO.

Using the e-signature line to provide a clue as to a poster's perspective can be very helpful. Perfect Circle's e-sig is perfect IMO.

Are there any former players? How many moms are there?

I'm a former collegiate player and a mom so obviously my opinions should be doubly valid.

But seriously, I don't mind the dissenters. Their posts make for interesting reading and debate. I've actually learned some new things from these posts (helicoptering comes to mind). It's the folks whose first post is What is this I/R stuff? (when clearly they can educate themselves by reading the stickies) and feigning ignorance to then go on and stir the pot that wastes everyone's time.

“In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community…either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.”

We have more than I realized!!!!!!
