I've seen try outs announced for the different regions on the USSSA sites. Any idea on if they are worth going to. Those selected play at Disney. What's your take?

I can see most of the conversations following tryouts going like this:
"I'm sorry, but your DD did not make the team. We really like her attitude and effort, but her skills are not quite there yet. We can help her get to that next level if you sign her up for our (clinics/camps/elite local travel team), and for just $5000, she'll be ready to try out again next year."

I thought softball had professional teams?

This is legit guys. Its not a secondary company or a gimmick. its USSSA themselves-each $125 includes a scouting report on your DD and a session with a professional USSSA Pride player.

Utrip is slowly taking over my area. ASA A State is still the best state tournament in Il but that can change fast.

ASA has had the same crappy website for as long as I have been around. No scores, no real info. Sounds dumb but the USSSA website is making the difference here.

In Illinois, when USSSA gets the state tournaments out of Rockford and puts them in a part of the state that will attract better competition ASA might as well pack up their stuff.

Is this to form a TB team or just to put together a "showcase" event at Disney? If you are just looking for an event to get your DD exposure to college coaches I think your money would be better spent with OnDeck - especially if your DD is a pitcher. There are a lot of new events designed to separate parents from their hard earned $ in pursuit of a college scholarship for their DD, so buyer beware.

Funny story....someone put together an "Elite 80" event in GA, touting it as a great showcase opportunity for the 80 players selected. The problem was only 60 players showed up and most were B-level players. Most A-level players are on a good TB team that will get them exposure to college coaches, so they do not need to do these special events.

Disney people like going on Disney trips for any reason. I'm not Disney people, but I won't begrudge them their fun. It sounds like this opportunity is being sold as exactly what it is.
