Folks,

Someone in another thread was looking for the Pitch Call Chart that can be found on Ron Holt's windpitch.com website using the following link

Fastpitch Softball Pitching Instruction

For those who haven't seen it or a variation of it, the chart suggests what pitches to throw based on batters stance, tendencies, game situation, weather, etc.

Interestingly, the chart or its precursor has been around since at least 1993 - anybody know more about it or seen different variations?

IMO, its a good tool for coaches to use to help teach catchers and pitchers the evaluation and thought process involved with sequencing pitches.

What do you think?

Unsolicited Endorsement! Ron's related SoftballSolutions.com website, which provides valuable first-hand evaluations of the softball gloves, bats, and equipment it carries.

You are making me feel old. I posted it back then. It was circulating in Chicagoland in 1999.

Now, all you have to do is find a pitcher who can throw all those pitches.

Thanks to all

I appreciate you guys finding this for me again. I just figured it to be one of those things I would never see again.

Much appreciated. As for finding someone who can make all those pitches.

They are not for the finding. They are for the creating.

:)

Dana.

after a couple of weeks of college softball, I am still amazed at the lack of understanding of what pitch to call and when. Suggest all coaches look at the link on post 1, download it, and study study study!!!!
