TCBs- are they ok to use with carbon fiber bats?

The total control balls seem to be heavyish and I was wondering if those of you that use them find that they need to be used with practice bats rather than game bats.

I have no reservation about my 18U DD using her gamer to hit the BB-sized TCBs. IMO, the heavier SB-sized TCBs create too much of an impact and might lead to injury.

Like GM, we have the smaller TCBs. DD and her teammates use them all the time with their composite bats and have never had any problems. (We did have one of the girls break open a slit in a TCB, but the bats are fine!)

When she was a first year 12U, her coach had some of the larger (Atomic) TCBs and the whole team used them with their regular bats (some girls had composites, some had Rocketechs). I don't think there were ever any problems, but now that DD is bigger and is hitting harder, I'd feel better if she pulled out a metal bat if she were to hit those again. IMO the smaller TCBs are better for most purposes anyway...

Great-thank you! After seeing my DDs bat bending just from her swinging (as i posted in the slo-mo thread) it made me question whether anyone had ever encountered problems.

I got to test them whend they first came out. The only warning I have seen is the larger Atomic balls and not to use with younger kids and not to hit ( 10) i think in a row. It's been awhile since I read the warning. It was due to wrist injury risk.

Hmm, I may have to revise my previous statement. Broken bat #2 has happened and it *WAS* on tcb balls. DD broke her one-piece composite bat at last night's practice hitting a smaller tcb being front-tossed. She snapped her bat just above the wrap tape.

The manufacturer of TCB balls says it is OK, but if you are sending a bat back for a warranty replacement, you might want not mention that your DD hits 100 TCB balls a day with it......
